Earlier today, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the iPhone 14 Pro models will be more expensive than the iPhone 13 Pro models. Kuo did not disclose exact pricing, but he said the average selling price of all four iPhone 14 models would rise by about 15% overall.

While higher prices will disappoint customers, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will likely offer more storage in exchange for the extra cost. In June, Taiwan-based research firm TrendForce predicted that the iPhone 14 Pro model could have 256GB of storage, compared with 128GB for the iPhone 13 Pro model. However, the graph shows that the amount of storage is still “pending” at the time, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Other rumored upgrades to the iPhone 14 Pro models include a faster A16 chip, a new pill-shaped cutout and hole to replace the notch, an upgraded 48-megapixel rear camera lens with support for 8K video recording, front-facing camera autofocus, faster of RAM and an always-on display showing the time, date, widgets and newly added battery percentage of the lock screen.

In the U.S., the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max start at $999 and $1,099, respectively, with 128GB of storage. With a price increase of about 10%, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could start at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively, which would be the same price as the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max with 256GB of storage. However, it remains to be seen if the exact price increase will be.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 14 series in September as usual. It’s unclear if the standard iPhone 14 models will also see a price hike, as they’re still expected to feature the A15 chip and the Pro models are rumored to lack many other upgrades. A rough rumor says the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 will continue to start at $799.
